Free Remotely Hosted Chat Rooms for Your Web Site

Want to add real time chat to your Site? The services below are all hosted for free on remote servers, which means you don't need to know a thing about coding! Just copy and paste the html they provide after you sign up and you'll have an instant interactive chat feature!

Just another quick note: Many web hosts now offer free chatrooms along with the hosting plan, so you may want to see what your host has available as well.

Bravenet
Live Java chat with options like room color, various language options, private chat and lots more.

Spin Chat
Another Java chat, this one is different though because there is one chatroom for many different webpages, making it much more likely that you'll always find someone there and they have games people can play while talking!

Para Chat
Lots of features for a free chat room including foreign language support, user created rooms and the ability to customize colors, avatar support etc. They do however ad banners an pop ups on the chat room they host for you.

Chat Forum
Free java chat room that is only accessible to users from your website. Quite a few features including user ignore and profile feature, private (1-2-1) chat windows. Chat Forum is very easy to use and set up, supports 10 users at once and is supported by advertising.

Chat Applet
Compatible with any IRC client mIRC, X-Chat, ircZ, Ircle etc. which is something not all of these other ones offer. They say it supports person to person private conversation, file sharing, memo sending to offline users and chatroom moderation. They also add no advertising and have recently added a lot more options so that you can customize the applet to blend very nicely with your site. I haven't tested this one out myself but a visitor here recommended it so I've added it for now.

ABC Chat
Here's another web based chatroom service that I'll give a test to when I get the chance. Right now I'm placing it here (unreviewed) in case you want to try it out. I took a very quick look at their demo and it looks like a fairly basic java chat, but if you want something simple to set up, this one may be worth a look at.
