Free Image, Photo and Clipart Storage

Most clipart archives don't allow hotlinking (embedding their images from their site directly into your website) since the costs of bandwidth are rather high in most cases, and some website hosts don't allow the storage of video, photos or clipart... So what do you do? Use free remotely hosted image services that do allow hotlinking. These image hosts are perfect for use in MySpace, LiveJournal, eBay, forum avatars, signatures etc.

These are also handy if your bandwidth is too high on your current server and you want to be able to still share photos with family and friends, or perhaps as a back up for images.

Webmaster Note: Please, if a website is giving away clipart and asks that you save the images and upload them for your personal use somewhere else.. do so! Those clipart archives do not make any money in the first place, add to that the stolen bandwidth wasted by hotlinking, and I've seen all too many amazing sites shut their doors over the years. Help keep the spirit of sharing alive on the web, don't abuse the goodwill of people offering a free service.

Allows hotlinking! This is probably the best known host for storing images. They will host jpg jpeg png gif bmp tif tiff swf, as long as they are under 1.5 megabytes. They will also resize and optimize your pictures for you if you want! They have handy tools to make it super easy to use as well, including a toolbar for Internet Explorer users that "allows you to drag-and-drop images from your desktop directly into posting fields on MySpace, LiveJournal, and infinitely many other forums and message boards", a Firefox extension to make uploads a breeze and even an image upload for Mac users!

Allows hotlinking! Remote storage and hosting of pictures (jpg, gif, png, bmp, tif, swf.) and video. For free members, movies are allowed to be up to 3 minutes long, and images larger than 1 MB are automatically resized to 1 MB or less. The have detailed, easy to understand instructions how to uploads, share your images and videos as well as how to set up direct linking for blogs, eBay and any other type of website.

Hotlink Files
With hotlink Files you can not only store your images and link directly to them in another site, they allow many different kinds of files! You can stream music and video, share documents, photos etc. The files must be 50MB or less and they give 1GB storage space as well as 8GB bandwidth per month. If you need more space for either private, online file storage or for sharing your media, they do have larger plans available at reasonable rates.

Image Free Host
Image Free Host allows direct linking for your images to forums for use as signatures, personal sites, auctions etc. but states in their rules that you may "not link or embed images hosted on this service into a large-scale, non-forum websites." As with all these image hosts, you must have respect copyrights or your pictures will be deleted. They also watermark your images when they show them.
